Alfie vs Hull City
Team news
The Bees have gone back to their 343 formation after trying something new in the cup.
I was excited about seeing Bryan Mbeumo and Christian Norgaard making their first league start.
Both teams came into the match after playing in the Carabao cup, and both having one win and one loss in the league.
New signing David Raya has started all three league games this season.
Brentford the stronger side
The first main bit of action was a Hull attack which ended with Hull earning a free kick wide on the left. It was at such a wide angle that it hit the side netting at the near post.
Brentford’s first attack was when Rico Henry ran down the left wing, he passed it to Mbeumo who crossed it into Henrik Dalsgaard, he chested it down and took a shot but blocked by the Hull defenders hand but no penalty was given.
Hull then had a few chances before Jensen crosses in from the left for Brentford’s next attack, Canos took the shot on the half volley but Long caught the ball.
Brentford finished the half stronger, but the score was 0-0.
Sergi Canos takes on four defenders
Brentford started the 2nd half with a well worked attack and Ollie Watkins shot going just wide.
Hull then won a corner which was cleared by Pontus Jansson, a Hull shot then got blocked but they worked their way through the Brentford defence and Bowen scored in the near corner after 53 minutes. 1-0 to Hull.
Watkins played a ball through to Mbeumo who could have got his debut goal but curled it just over the bar.
After 70 minutes Said Benrahma came on to make his first appearance this season wearing his new number 10 shirt, Josh DaSilva also came on.
2 minutes later DaSilva really helped Brentford by nutmegging a Hull player which found its way to Mbeumo who played it wide to Canos, he crossed it in to Watkins who managed to get it over the Hull keeper to score the equaliser. GOAL!!! This really boosted the crowd.
Straight after the goal another attack involving Sergi Canos, he took on four defenders, crossed it into Watkins who volleyed it but a great save by Long. Brentford could have scored 2 in 2 minutes.
Both teams had chances in the last 10 minutes, the best two were Bowen hitting the post from a free kick for Hull and Jeanvier heading just wide from 5 yards out for the Bees after a cross from DaSilva.
The game ended as a close 1-1 draw.
My favourite moment
My favourite moment of the match was when Watkins scored Brentford’s equaliser, I nearly gave him my Man of the Match because of this.
My Man of the Match: Sergi Canos
My Game Rating: 6/10
