Isla vs Stoke
Nikos Karelis makes the squad
I was pleased to see Sergi Canos, Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins playing because I try to play like them for my team. I got to read the teams out before the match so spent the journey from my match in the morning learning to say the names properly. It also meant I was the first one from my team to get on a professional pitch. It was good fun. Nikos Karelis was a new name to learn and I was excited about seeing him play. I also like seeing Pontus Jansson as our new captain.
Brentford the better team
Brentford were the better team in the first half. Sergi Canos tried to get past the defenders but the ball kept being blocked and cleared. We clapped in the 28th minute for Rob who was part of the club and everyone misses.
The first half was quiet after that. We had a chance from a free kick five minutes before half time but Christian Norgaard headed it over. It was hard for Brentford to play as Stoke kept crowding behind the ball rather than trying to play, like what happens in my under 9s girls league.
Dad let me eat all of the Wine Gums
Stoke got better in the second half and it was a bit more nervous, they had some OK chances. David Raya played well and made some good saves. He made an amazing save when the Stoke player was through on goal. Said Benrahma had a shot tipped over for us but not very much else happened and my dad let me eat all of the Wine Gums.
I was worried it would be like against Birmingham where the away team got a lucky goal and we lost, but we kept a clean sheet and still got a point.
My favourite moment
My favourite moment of the match was David Raya’s save when he took the ball away when it looked like Stoke would score.
I also had a fun moment after the match when Pontus came over to say hello to my little brother because his name is on the back of his new shirt. That made his day!
My Man of the Match: David Raya
My Game Rating: 4/10
